Inclusive courses
Inclusive courses are of 10 or 20 hours, and take care of all the details and booking for your tests, leaving you to concentrate on learning to drive! The courses include one Theory Test, one Practical Test, loan of study material (books, Videos and PC CD ROMs), the stated number of hours tuition of which 2 hours are reserved for the Practical Test.
A deposit of £87.00 is payable at the time of booking, which covers booking of both tests and administration costs. The balance is then payable on the first lesson.
Pass Plus
New drivers make up just 10% of licence holders, but are involved in 29% of accidents.
The Pass Plus scheme consists of a minimum of six hours of training sessions, which you are entitled to take after you have successfully passed your Practical Driving Test. It is designed to make newly qualified drivers become better drivers, and there is no test at the end.
During the course, you will have six modules (minimum 6 hours) to complete to the satisfaction of your registered Pass Plus instructor,
These are: -
· Driving in town,
· Driving out of town,
· Driving in all weathers,
· Driving at night,
· Dual carriage ways,
· Motorways.
Once you have reached a satisfactory standard, your signed Pass Plus forms are sent to the Driving Standards Agency. You will receive your Pass plus certificate in the post. This certificate should be sent to your insurer, who will effect any discount they offer.
Motorway Tuition
When you pass your test, you are of course legally entitled to drive on any type of road in the country, including Motorways.
If you decide against taking a Pass Plus course, consider taking some Motorway tuition to help you deal with these faster roads.
Because of the distances and speeds involved, Motorway tuition consists of a minimum of 2 hours, and a slightly increased hourly rate of £20.00 per hour.
Mock Tests
As your practical test date approaches, it may be worth considering a 'mock test', covering all the exercises you could expect in your practical test.
The one-hour session would be run to closely resemble the 'real thing', including questions on basic maintenance, general driving, and various manoeuvring exercises.
A 'mock test report form' would be completed to highlight any driving, serious, or dangerous faults, and a full debrief is given at the end of the session.
